The Largest Human Letter Q was achieved at the QIA in Quartzsite, AZ for the Grand Gathering on March 9th, 2014 at 2 pm. What an incredible achievement!

It all started with an innocent comment from John Hendrix, at the QIA, about having an "event" at the end of the season to try to help the community have people stay longer. Well, John - it definitely worked!!!!
From that idea, an entire weekend of fantastic events took place.
A Kickoff Concert by Rex Allen Jr., a Marathon Bingo Day with 2 full sessions on Friday, 2 day Craft Fair, 40+ people doing their Desert Jam on Thursday night, a fabulous Rock Auction by Auctioneer Richard McBride on Saturday, a 50's Dance that featured On The Road Again, a free Paul Winer Concert Saturday afternoon and Beyond The Ashes performing on Sunday morning.

The Auction was conducted by Richard McBride and he did a wonderful job! Not only was it a fun event, he helped raise lots of money to go back to the community! The "High Bidder" was for the Beautiful "Grand Canyon South Rim" scene from our own Mark Goldberg!
Saturday afternoon Paul Winer held a concert and then the On The Road Again Band held a great 50's Dance and Sock Hop. Sunday morning the Gospel Group Beyond the Ashes performed.

Sunday was the final registration process for Badges, wrist bands and everything that had to be done to be sure we would qualify for our record attempt. Everything has to be very officially recorded for this incredible event.

Special thanks to all our Vendors that came out and tried to brave that very strong W-I-N-D on Thursday, Friday and Saturday! At least the wind calmed down on Sunday for the finale!!!
And, of course, a very special thanks to our Caterers - we all sure love to eat! They didn't know what to do on those lousy WINDY DAYS but they stayed with us and put out some wonderful food and beverages! I named them - "We just cater Food"!
